Dedicated to empowering Tribal sovereignty through economic development and true self-governance
Today, more than any other period in American history, Tribes have the resources and wherewithal to fight for their rights in the courts and halls of Congress. As a result, Tribes now have unprecedented opportunities to create the conditions that will lead to generations of success and prosperity.
Methow (pronounced “met how”) Law was founded on the principle that as Tribes continue to grow on the national and international stages, it is more important than ever for Tribes to build a strong foundation at home, and make the most effective use of their economic and legal sovereignty. Economic diversification and thoughtful investments by Tribes will become increasingly important tools to improve conditions on Tribal land and ensure that Tribes remain competitive and economically successful into the future. Similarly, while Tribes exercise legal sovereignty over their lands and members, many Tribes’ laws and constitutions mirror outside governments or templates provided by the Federal government. Both areas present room for growth as Tribes have the opportunity to reflect on the traditions and strengths that guided them to where they are, as well as the current and future needs and abilities of their people and their land.
Methow Law was created to help Tribes in these pursuits, by ensuring high-quality legal representation in business deals and litigation, and helping Tribes develop legal infrastructure that is well-crafted, comprehensive, and takes into account the past and future generations and traditions of each individual Tribe.
